Minneapolis Aquatennial Fireworks 2009

The Minneapolis Aquatennial is the annual civic celebration for the city of Minneapolis.  The celebration lasts for nearly a week and a half with many opportunities to enjoy summer in Minneapolis.  The first of the events is kicked off with the Tennis Classic, followed by water ski shows and the famous Milk Carton Boat Races.

There are a number of events that I didn’t even mention, but it all culminates with the Aquatennial Fireworks show on Saturday night.  I shot the fireworks show with my friend Simon and we had scouted locations a few days earlier.  Unfortunately we thought the fireworks would be shot from the Stone Arch Bridge but at the last minute found out that they would be shot from the 3rd Ave bridge.  Overall our primary location choice was still not bad, we just didn’t get as much of the cityscape as we had wanted.
